Eyes of Hands

Several works from six art practices have been brought together for a short but powerful group exhibition. Though divergent motives are at play, the works are unified by a common denominator: they visibly emerge from a process-oriented approach. Through drawings, photographs, collages, prints, assemblages, sculptures and installations, they respond to what is primarily observed or available.

In doing so, the artists appear to enjoy being in the preliminary stage of interpretation, in which the creative process can revel in still preconceptual grounds. At the same time, they work methodically, in a fundamental way. One does so with earthy materials or with mere lines and fields of colour, the other with manual reproductions and image cuts of landscape elements and geological formations.

This often involves interventions on the flow of perception. Because the world is practically being cut up as raw material and then rebuilt and rearranged in loose fragments, the results can also be read as visual trials. Invariably, it is an outcome of attempts to broaden perception and deepen engagement, stemming from a pursuit of more layered and imaginative representations of the visible reality.
